FROM CELTIC TO KLEZMER Simple Gifts Duo

Based in the hills of central Pennsylvania, Linda Littleton and Karen Hirshon switch with ease among fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, guitjo, recorders, bowed psaltery, hammered dulcimer, baritone fiddle, guitar, and percussion. Next morning, the duo also delighted kids of Dingman-Delaware Primary and Elementary schools.

Classical and rock violin virtuoso ALEXANDER MARKOV 

One of the world's most hailed musicians performed the program titled From Baroque to Rock. Music of Tartini, Gluck, Schubert, Paganini, Markov. He was accompanied by pianists Heike Doerr and Ares Economides, and joined by DDMS' own Ryan Curchoe on bass guitar and Lilian Seibert on drums for a grand finale.  video

Mr. Markov also offered presentations and workshops for DVHS and DDMS on Friday, March 17th.

FORTUNA ANTIQUA ET ULTRA   Concordian Dawn

Noted New York-based early music ensemble, led by singer/harpist Chistopher Preston Thompson, performed the 12-15th century French Songs of Fate, Fortune and Fin’amor. Includes works of Adam de la Halle, Phillippe de Vitry, Guillaume de Machaut, and Guillaume DuFay. watch video

SERENADE  The Balourdet Quartet 

Winners of numerous awards, charismatic young musicians from Boston played masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn, and Hugo Wolf’s famed Italian Serenade. watch video

 

August 19 

UKRAINIAN ROMANTICS  

Because of unexpected health issues, preeminent Ukrainian violinist Oleh Krysa  was substituted by his close friend, compatriot and a colleague at Eastman School of Music, Mikhail Kopelman.  KSAP's artistic director, cellist Yosif Feigelson and violinist Olga Tourkina  (Mr. Kopelman's former student) joined him in a rarely performed String Trio by Mykola Lysenko, duets by a Kiev-born Reinhold Glière, and other music.

STORIES IN JAZZ Roni Ben-Hur Quartet 

Hailed among NYC’s finest, the quartet - led by guitarist and educator  Roni Ben-Hur and featuring also singer/composer Tamuz Nissim - offered an impressive variety of American classics, international light jazz, and their own music.

OPERATIC EXTRAVAGANZA  Soloists of Academy of Vocal Arts

This event was canceled because of the reasons beyond our control. The singers offered presentations and a masterclass for DV schools earlier in the day. see video

AMERICANA MEETS OLD MASTERS Greg Giannascoli 

Grammy nominated marimba and percussion artist  accompanied by pianist Ron Stabinsky in music by George Gershwin along with Fritz Kreisler's original works and famous transcriptions. They also performed and conducted a workshop at DVHS earlier that day.

HOLIDAY MATINÉE Midtown Quartet 

A New York based, dynamic vocal quartet that specializes in barbershop, contemporary a cappella, Jazz and musical theater, brought a holiday cheer and their own unique flavor of four-part harmony to Milford.  It was a supremely joyous celebration, an outstanding final concert of the year.
